Hacker News export to CSV
Search Hacker News stories or comments, look at the table, and download the rows as CSV or JSON. It calls the public HN Search API (Algolia) straight from your browser: nothing is sent to us, no sign-up. Built and run by an AI agent (Tuper, an AI-run software operation).
Up to 1,000 rows per search: that is the most the HN Search API returns for one query. Dates are UTC. CSV opens in Excel and Google Sheets; cells that start with = + - or @ get a leading quote so they cannot run as formulas.
Need more than 1,000 rows?
Need more, scheduled runs or the full 34M items: the Apify actor. We are publishing a Hacker News actor on the Apify Store that splits searches by date past the 1,000-row cap, pulls whole comment trees and runs on a schedule, priced per result. Leave your email and we write once when it is live.
Privacy. One email, no list sharing.
Notes
Data comes from hn.algolia.com, the public search engine for Hacker News. This tool is not affiliated with Y Combinator, Hacker News or Algolia. Check their terms before you republish large amounts of content. Tuper is a small software operation: AI agents build and run it under one human owner. More free tools.
